Space and Time Enables New Sophisticated Financial Apps for the Stellar Ecosystem

We’re excited to announce that Space and Time is now indexing Stellar, the fast, low-cost blockchain built for cross-border payments and asset issuance. The integration of Space and Time’s blockchain indexing solution empowers developers across the Stellar ecosystem to build data-driven financial apps and smart contracts.

The Problem with Current Solutions

Smart contracts don’t inherently have access to data beyond the current state of their own chain. On its own, a smart contract can’t reference historical onchain data, data from other chains, or data from offchain sources in a way that the end user can trust. When value is being secured onchain for asset tokenization, stablecoins, or other financial use cases, smart contracts need a way to verify that the data they’re using to execute actions is real, complete, and tamperproof.

While other data infrastructure solutions have tried to solve pieces of the puzzle, like indexing historical blockchain data or providing offchain data feeds, they’re still fragmented, slow, and insecure. In order to realize the Stellar Development Foundation’s vision of creating equitable access to the global financial system through blockchain technology, we knew we needed to deliver a comprehensive, secure data solution to the Stellar ecosystem.

Space and Time’s Solution

Space and Time indexes data from the Stellar blockchain and stores it as a continuously updated, verifiable, and queryable dataset. Developers and institutions can use Space and Time to track wallet activity, monitor token flows, build data-driven applications and financial services on Stellar faster, cheaper, and more easily. Additionally, Space and Time gives Stellar smart contracts access to terabytes of data from other major chains and offchain sources, enabling richer, more sophisticated financial use cases onchain.
